Bait Container

Smarter Baiting - Bigger Catches - Lower Costs

What is the Bait Container?

The Bait Container is a timed bait release container and bait saver container built for commercial fishing vessels. It protects lobster and crab bait from non-target species and harsh marine conditions during the early part of the soak, then releases bait at your chosen time when it’s most effective. Many crews align release with night feeding windows, which helps improve catch consistency while reducing bait loss and cutting bait consumption by an estimated 50% to 75%. For longer soaks, the Bait Container also lets you keep pots productive without physically rebaiting every time. By releasing bait on a schedule, it supports multi-day fishing strategies and helps crews plan fewer, smarter trips. Built from durable, marine-grade materials, it keeps bait secure and operates at depths up to 183 metres (100 fathoms) for reliable performance in harsh conditions. It’s a smart bait protection system for lobster pots, crab pots, creels and other shellfish traps that reduces costs, minimises bait waste, and supports a more sustainable way to fish.

Bait Container

How It Works

Step 1 - Load the Bait

Place 25%–50% of your usual bait into the bait ba. Insert the bag into the Bait Container.

Step 2 - Close the Bait Container

Rotate the Bait Container shut to keep the bait protected from predators and the environment until release.

Step 3 - Baiting

At your set time, the container opens automatically, optimising catch rates while reducing trips to sea.

Smarter Rebaiting - Without Leaving the Dock 🦞

With the Bait Saviour Bait Container (a timed bait release container and bait saver container), you can rebait your creel, lobster pot or crab pot remotely with no need to head back out to sea. Simply load the container with bait, close it to start the countdown timer, and it will automatically open at your chosen release time during the soak.

If poor weather, rough seas, or a storm keeps you ashore, you can still keep your gear fishing effectively. Bait stays protected until it’s needed, then releases on schedule so you maintain bait freshness and reduce bait loss even when you can’t get out. The result is longer productive soaks, fewer unnecessary trips offshore, lower fuel use, and improved catch consistency.

Reduce Bait Useage 💰

Traditional fishing often relies on loading pots with bait that gets stripped early by non-target species or breaks down before lobsters and crabs arrive. The Bait Saviour bait saver container changes that by protecting bait during the early soak, then releasing it at the right time.

By controlling when bait becomes available, many crews can fish with just 25% to 50% of their usual bait, cutting bait waste and cost while keeping bait effective when it matters most. Less bait used means lower operating costs, reduced environmental impact, and a more sustainable approach to commercial shellfish fishing without compromising results.

THE ONLINE PORTAL

The Portal is your control centre. Here you:

  • Set up to 4 custom time modes (exact times, or timed delays after closing a container)

  • Monitor system usage

Laptop-Bait Saviour-portal
Portal
Bait-Saviour-Hub

THE HUB

The Hub connects your Bait Containers to the Online Portal. Every time a container is closed, the Hub checks:

  • Which time mode is selected

  • The schedule programmed via the Portal

It then communicates this information directly to your Bait Containers, ensuring everything runs seamlessly and wirelessly.

THE REMOTE

The Remote gives you flexibility at sea, even without internet. Before heading out, you set up to four time modes in the online portal, each with its own bait release time or delay. Once at sea, simply use the Remote to switch your bait container between these modes, adapting instantly to changing conditions. For example, your modes could be set as:

🔴 Mode 1 - 20:30
🟡 Mode 2 - 03:00
🔵 Mode 3 - 6 Hour Delay
🟢 Mode 4 - 22:45 (+2 Days)

Why The Bait Container

Smarter Baiting, Built for the Sea

Traditional fishing leaves bait exposed to non-target species, currents and early breakdown, which drives bait loss and reduces catch consistency. The Bait Saviour Bait Container changes that. It’s a timed bait release container and bait saver container built for harsh marine conditions, protecting bait during the early soak and releasing it at the right time. Pressure tested to 183 metres (100 fathoms), it keeps bait secure until the moment lobsters and crabs are most active. With programmable timing, you choose when bait becomes available, helping keep bait fresh and effective during peak feeding windows.

Efficiency That Pays Off

By using just 25% to 50% of your usual bait, this bait protection system can cut bait spend by up to 75% while improving catch consistency. Its robust, saltwater-resistant design is built for commercial fishing vessels, so bait stays protected in real-world conditions. With fewer unnecessary trips and less gear handling, crews can also reduce fuel use by up to 50% depending on operation and strategy, staying focused on fishing rather than constant rebaiting.

Simple Steps, Smarter Results

  1. Load the bait: Place 25% to 50% of your usual portion inside the bait saver container

  2. Close the container: Seal it to keep bait protected until release

  3. Fit to your gear: Mount securely in your lobster pot, crab pot, creel, or other shellfish trap

  4. Set your schedule: Programme release times using the Bait Saviour Hub and Remote or the online portal

Once programmed, the container opens automatically at your chosen time. That could be an overnight release for short soaks, or staggered releases that keep pots fishing effectively over longer soaks across several days.

Built for the Future

The Bait Container is more than just a commercial bait container. It’s a smarter, more sustainable way to fish that reduces bait waste, supports more efficient trips, and helps limit unwanted interactions from scavengers drawn to discarded bait. The result is a practical bait loss prevention system that protects margins and supports healthier marine ecosystems, while delivering reliable performance for lobster and crab fishing.

Our Bait Saviour Bait Container is a timed bait release container and bait saver container designed to protect lobster and crab bait from non-target species and harsh marine conditions during the early part of the soak. Because lobsters are typically most active at night, you can programme a precise release time using the online portal, putting control of bait availability directly in your hands. By timing bait release properly, you attract lobsters and crabs when they’re most likely to feed, improving catch consistency and reducing bait loss. This efficiency means many crews can use just 25% to 50% of their usual bait quantity, cutting bait waste and cost while supporting a more sustainable approach to commercial shellfish fishing. The container’s robust, sealed design keeps bait secure and effective in challenging underwater conditions, so you spend less time dealing with bait problems and more time focused on fishing. Using less bait also reduces waste on the seabed and limits the scavenger build-up that can interfere with gear. Once you’ve set the release time for your bait container in the portal, follow these simple steps: 1 - Load the bait: Use around 25% to 50% of your usual bait portion. Carefully peel back the bait net and load the measured bait inside the bait saver container. 2 - Secure the latch: Close the container fully and check the latch is firmly locked to prevent accidental opening before the scheduled release. 3 - Place back in the basket: Return the container to the bait container basket mounted in your lobster pot, crab pot, creel, or other shellfish trap. Make sure it’s positioned securely and stable so it operates correctly when the timer activates. Our Bait Container is engineered by Q-leap Technology and pressure tested at the Southampton Oceanography Centre, designed to operate at depths of up to 183 metres (100 fathoms). It’s built for commercial fishing vessels and real-world pot fishing conditions, keeping bait protected and intact at depth so it performs when it matters. The Bait Saviour system is designed to reduce bait consumption by up to 75%. By improving bait efficiency during the soak, crews can often reduce unnecessary trips and handling, which can lower fuel use by up to 50% depending on operation and strategy. That means less time spent rebaiting and re-running gear, and more time focused on productive fishing. To run the full smart bait control system, the process is straightforward: One - Plug in your Hub: The Bait Saviour Hub is the bait monitoring hub for fishing. It manages release credits, supports pot location tracking where enabled, and shows real-time bait container countdowns so you can manage your gear efficiently. Two - Set your time: Use the Bait Saviour online portal to set bait release schedules and manage your system. It’s built to be simple to use, with remote setup support available if needed. Three - Select your bait container: Use the Remote to switch your bait container between preset time modes that you’ve already set in the portal. This lets you adjust bait release scheduling quickly to suit short soaks, long soaks, tides, weather windows, and target species behaviour. This is a bait protection system and bait loss prevention system for lobster pots, crab pots, creels and other shellfish traps. It combines a smart bait container with practical scheduling to reduce bait waste, reduce operating costs, and keep your gear fishing effectively with less effort.

The Bait Bag

Bait Bag

Fast Rebaiting - Simple, Clean, Effective

The bait bag is designed to make rebaiting your Bait Saviour Bait Container (bait saver container) quick, clean, and hassle-free. Instead of handling loose bait every time, you remove the used bait bag and slot in a fresh one, reducing mess and cutting down the time and effort needed on deck. Once the new bait bag is in place, close the timed bait release container and it’s ready for the next soak.

For consistent performance in harsh marine conditions, each bait bag includes a tether that keeps the bag positioned correctly inside the bait container during scheduled release. This simple, robust setup helps ensure bait is released where it needs to be, supporting reliable bait availability, reduced bait loss, and improved catch consistency in lobster pots, crab pots, creels, and other shellfish traps.
